Early this month, price of petrol was reduced by 10 sen, that is from RM2.00 to RM1.90 per liter. Really a good news for everybody in Malaysia. However, the price of goods has yet to come down. Even if some prices have been slashed such as rice, roti canai and teh tarik, it is not enough. So how do we handle this problem? Pak Lah suggested that everybody should boycott goods that are overpriced. The problem would not come easy as many of the overpriced goods are needed daily. We could boycott them, but then we’d have to live in cages.
Another thing is that the global oil prices might go up as recently there was a case of a Saudi Arabia oil tanker being hijacked by Somali pirates. If incidents such as these keep on occurring, Saudi Arabia would be forced to take a longer route to deliver their oil and this would lead to the global oil prices being increased. Although it’s not much, it’s still an increment. So we must be aware of this as the fuel prices in Malaysia are determined by the global oil prices.
What ever it is, we should be thankful with the current oil price reduction. If the government maintained the price at RM2.70, I’m sure everyone will suffer. How far do we appreciate the government’s efforts to reduce oil prices? Think about it.
